See the 5 Simple C’s of Getting Dental Sealants

It’s surprisingly simple to get your child the cavity protection of dental sealants. In fact, your pediatric dentist in Dalton can usually complete the entire procedure in just five or six minutes. This speed and ease has made dental sealants one of the most popular procedures offered at family dentistry practices. See the five easy steps required for advanced decay protection.

Step 1 - Cleaning

First, your pediatric dentist in Dalton cleans the entire surface of each tooth to ensure that the tooth sealants bond properly.

Step 2 - Conditioning

Once the teeth are thoroughly cleaned, a special etching gel gets applied on top of the chewing surfaces of the teeth receiving tooth sealants. After 60 seconds, the gel gets rinsed away.

Step 3 - Coating

Next, your pediatric dentist in Dalton brushes the liquid plastic that forms the dental sealant directly onto the teeth, making sure that it fills the deep crevices and crannies.

Step 4- Curing

After tooth sealants have been applied, a special light is used to activate the sealing properties of the gel causing it to set. This process is called curing and it usually takes only one minute.

Step 5 - Checking

Once the dental sealants have set, your pediatric dentist in Dalton evaluates each tooth to make sure that the sealant completely covers every possible place where decay could get trapped. After all of your child’s teeth have been checked, they can leave the family dentistry clinic with advanced decay protection.
